Peace Plus ASPIRE - Holy Child Nursery School & Harmony Nursery Unit
1st Shared Education Session - HOLY CHILD VISIT HARMONY
The children, staff, and parents of Holy Child Nursery School were thrilled to set off on a big double-decker bus to Harmony Nursery Unit on 6th November 2025 for our very first PeacePlus ASPIRE trip!
We received such a warm welcome at Harmony Nursery and enjoyed a day filled with joy, fun, and friendship—building relationships and getting to know our new friends.
The children loved playing indoors with Harmony’s beautiful toys and exploring their wonderful outdoor area. To make the day even more special, we visited their stunning Forest School. A truly magical day!
What an exceptional start to our ASPIRE PeacePlus journey!
2nd Shared Education Session - HARMONY NURSERY UNIT COME TO VISIT HOLY CHILD
On 20th November 2025, we enjoyed Day 2 of our PeacePlus ASPIRE adventure!
This time, Holy Child Nursery School had the pleasure of welcoming the children, staff, and parents from Harmony Nursery Unit to our school. Our original plan was a trip to the local park, but the icy weather meant a quick change of plans—and what a fantastic day it turned out to be!
The children took part in fun indoor and outdoor play and learning activities, listened to an interactive story delivered by Belfast City Council called Sammy Squirrel, and shared picnic lunches together.
Day 2 was another wonderful success, filled with joy, learning, and friendship as we continue to build strong communities and positive relationships through the ASPIRE PeacePlus Programme.
3rd Shared Education Session - MR HULLABALOO AT HARMONY
We started our new term in the most exciting way by visiting Harmony Nursery Unit to enjoy Mr Hullabaloo’s Winter Tales show. Once again, we were welcomed so warmly by the Harmony team, and the children were delighted to reconnect with their new friends.
A number of parents also joined us on the trip and engaged beautifully with both Harmony parents and staff, supporting the children in their learning and enjoyment throughout the morning. Their presence helped create a calm, positive and nurturing atmosphere for everyone involved.
It was a truly wonderful shared learning experience, filled with joy, fun and storytelling magic—an excellent way to continue with shared learning.
4th Shared Education Experience - W5 (3rd March 2026)
The children, staff, and parents from Holy Child Nursery School and Harmony Nursery Unit enjoyed another outstanding shared?learning experience together in W5. Today’s session provided the children with opportunities to experience joy and fun in the Level 2 exhibition “Over the Hills and Far Away,” followed by a classroom workshop exploring the habitats of different birds.
The highlight of the day was meeting Oona the Penguin from Puffin Rock Island. It was a truly wonderful day filled with play, discovery, and meaningful integration for all involved.
5th Shared Education Experience - W5 (11th March 2026)
During our recent shared education trip with Harmony Nursery Unit, the highlight was undoubtedly the time spent in the soft play area. Children from both schools thoroughly enjoyed running, jumping, playing, and embarking on little adventures together, further strengthening the wonderful relationships developing between the two groups.
In this week’s classroom session, the children used their senses to investigate and identify which bird the large egg belonged to—an activity they found both exciting and engaging.
Each W5 session concludes with a shared picnic, giving the children another valuable opportunity to socialise and deepen friendships across both settings.
We are extremely grateful to the many parents who attended the trips and supported both the school and the children. Their involvement greatly enhances these shared learning experiences.
6th Shared Education Experience - W5 (20th March 2026)
Our sixth and final W5 visit as part of the Peace Plus ASPIRE Project was, once again, an outstanding success. We were delighted to be supported by numerous parents, whose involvement we deeply appreciate. It has been wonderful to see our families engage so fully with this initiative and to witness parents, staff, and children from both Holy Child Nursery School and Harmony Nursery Unit building meaningful connections.
During this final session, the children enjoyed exploring the exhibitions on Level 5 before taking part in a highly engaging classroom workshop. They had the opportunity to take on the role of birds, working together to create oversized nests in a fun, hands?on activity. This was followed by a craft session where each child made their own individual nest to bring home.
It was a fabulous day that truly demonstrated shared learning at its very best.
